We had a client in New Braunfels, TX, looking to upgrade their front yard's curb appeal and maximize their outdoor living area in the back. This landscaping makeover project involved multiple steps to bring their vision to life, including a retaining wall, new plants, and a rock ground cover for the front of their house. For the backyard, our team constructed a concrete patio where they can lounge and defined a gravel area to extend their living space even more. Then, we finished with raised planter beds on the gravel area, as well as along the concrete patio and the back of their house to create a cohesive look.

This landscaping makeover was extensive, encompassing both our client's front and back yards. For their front yard, they wanted to enhance their curb appeal with a purposeful, drought-friendly landscape design. So, we got to work bringing it to fruition! We built a sturdy retaining wall using large stones where the land sloped beside the driveway. That way, it creates a flat surface at the top, perfect for a planter bed.
We also installed landscape beds at the end of the driveway closest to the road on either side, as well as along the front of the house. A light-colored rock ground cover was meticulously laid throughout these beds, and various new plants were incorporated to add texture and color. We opted for lower-maintenance types that require little water and care to thrive, ensuring lasting beauty for their landscape.
A Concrete Patio & Gravel Area Were Installed in the Backyard
With our client's front yard complete, we started upgrading their outdoor living area behind their house. This involved installing a small poured concrete patio at the back entrance to give them another spot for lounging and relaxing outside. We also created a gravel area extending from the patio into the yard to help them maximize that available space. This area is bordered with stone edging to define and separate it from the grass. With these elements complete, they now have designated spots for outdoor enjoyment.
We finished this landscape makeover with raised planter beds in our client's backyard.
The last step of this landscape makeover was to add raised planter beds to our client's backyard! We used natural stone to build three beds on the gravel area by the fenceline. We also put a small, circular one along the concrete patio and others along the back of the house. A darker rock ground cover was used for the separate circular one, while the others have light-colored rocks similar to the ones in the front yard. Then, we adorned them with different plants to add pops of greenery and natural beauty. Now, our client has a dynamic, versatile space that blends function and aesthetics!
